I think many of us are sitting down and reflecting about the London Olympic Games now that it is all over. One only has to sit down and mull over my posts prior to the Games to realise that I was highly sceptical about the ability of this country to succeed in coordinating such a large venture. I don't think that I was alone either.
We have to give credit to the planners, the architects and the builders who got all the new buildings up and in place well on time. Clearly with our record haul of medals the athletes and coaches also played their part and the British public were magnificent.
I make no apology that I did not like the hawking of the Olympic torch around the country and allowing people of all creeds to run a few hundred yards with one of the thousands of torches manufactured for the job. The public however, turned out for it so perhaps I was wrong. We have not yet seen the bill for this publicity exercise but with all the police cover it will not have come cheap.
The drawbacks have all centred on the performance of the politicians and the greed of the entrepreneurs. The ticket selling fiasco which was highlighted by rows and rows of empty premium placed seats was always going to be a disaster. The price hikes by London hotels for accommodation coupled with the ridiculous prices for food and drink and the restrictions placed on the public bringing in their own food was also a public relations disaster.
The hiring of G4S was also a political gaffe of such magnitude I am surprised nobody seems to have paid a political price. Who hired them? Who is involved with that company in the background? How many palms were greased? Why did they think that we needed 25,000 security operators when we already had thousands of unpaid, friendly volunteers? Why were the army not used in the first place? A lot of money was wasted but was the real reason that the politicians did not want the army rubbing shoulders with the public?
Servicemen in uniform are rarely seen on the streets today because the service people have been told that it is unwise to advertise that you serve the country. At long last the government had to let them loose in public and apparently the people came forward in droves to thank them. of course they did because this is Britain not East Germany...yet.
Prior to the Games they placed, in a blaze of publicity, surface to air missiles on the roofs of private residential buildings. Why did they do that? They did it to scare you. It certainly scared the foreign visitors because London was 'deserted' for the best part of 2 weeks. However, once the British people realised that the London underground could cope, that there WERE tickets to be had and that we were capable of picking up medals they responded like they always have.
For two weeks now we have seen a remarkable renaissance of the British spirit and national pride. It must have been like a kick in the crutch to the political 'traitors' who would sell us out to unelected commissars at the drop of a hat. The British people have suddenly realised that we really have nothing to fear. Where were the Muslim terrorists? We are shackled to 'Security Experts' and 'Health and Safety' moguls because they want you to live in fear.
If we have not got a threat they will invent one. Now we know that the British public can actually move around freely and that our national unity is still in tact. We don't need the European Union, we don't need idiotic 'Elf and Safety' rules and as long as our national security services are effective then we should be safe. A few highly visible police on the streets would also mean that our kids could also play outdoors. It now appears that we probably have more to fear from the Political Class and their masters than from anyone else!
There will be more on this.

What a Wonderful Show!
Like most people I have been caught up in our Olympic Show. It is amazing that once the politicians had to butt out then Great Britain emerged in all its glory. I have never seen such a show of national spirit. It is almost as if the people decided to show the politicians that despite their efforts to ruin the country we are all still here and we will still sing the National Anthem and you can stick the EU up your proverbial.
The people have spoken during these games and the competitors have responded. The commissars of the EU must be frowning. They must wonder what they have to do to crush this spirit but then Hitler thought that too.
I have been amazed and I admit that my doubts have been unfounded. Once again this magnificent nation has risen to the occasion. The rest of the world rejected our Games so the people came out and stuffed them. In my opinion these Games could change the face of the nation.
Our wonderful lads and lasses have proven that the lack of competitive sport in schools was a tragic error. The selling off of school playing fields was a tragic error. Failing to allow our kids to compete was a tragic error. More than one generation of bought and paid for politicians have been brought to their knees by gold medal after gold medal.
They try to justify their bias by reminding us that the father of Jess Ennis was originally Jamaican not that she is a Sheffield lass produced by this country. Mo Farah is held up as an example of incomer success and of course he is and he was brilliant... like many others. But...do us a favour...look at the rowing and the cyclists! Do we have to apologise to be white, British and successful?
The big loser is football. Once again the overpaid, uncouth, louts failed at the simplest of tasks...taking a penalty. Captained by a proven marriage cheat and led by an over age violent, over tattooed, psychopath, they fell to South Korea because they could not master the basic skill of taking a penalty.
The player that failed, Daniel Sturridge, is paid an absolute fortune by Chelsea, compared to many of the people who won medals and did not not wilt under pressure. He had to convert one penalty (in a qualification tournament) and yet Peter Wilson in the clay pigeon shooting had to hit both targets to win a gold medal.
I have despaired for my country for five years now and suddenly we have been reborn. Suddenly we did not have to rely on the EU and their judges and our shocking politicians. Suddenly the British people rose up and bit the bum of the people who thought that they could sell us to the New World Order! I am really emotional. These Olympics, despite the efforts of the politicians, have been claimed by the people. I never thought that I would see it happen.
It is perfect!

The Olympic Ticket Scandal!

You will forgive me for returning to a constant theme. I am like a dog with a bone but then I know people who originally applied for tickets and were awarded nothing. Now we have rows of empty seats in almost every event (including Andy Murray) and ticket touts and illegal web sites seem to have access to almost everything!
Many British families applied for tickets at the first round of bidding and for some apparent reason received nothing. Now we have almost empty stadia (at times) and London is deserted. Clearly Lord Coe (he of the smug expression) has failed to ensure a fair distribution of tickets particularly to the British public. Everything was astonishingly overpriced!
Today the people came out to support Bradley Wiggins and Chris Froome when almost every yard of the (free) Olympic time trial route was lined with excited spectators. The rowing fraternity have also been well supported but then is that because they are an up market clientele?
One final moan in typical Victor Meldrew style...our soldiers are living in conditions not fit for pigs! The politicians keep (over) praising them but their accommodation reflects how the government value them. We have a deserted London in which many up market hotels have empty rooms. Why does the government not commandeer these empty rooms and move the troops into luxury accommodation. They could then send the bill to G4S and then we would all be winners.
Why do we never get joined up thinking from a politician? The reason is that most of them have an entirely different agenda from the public which you may have realised if you read my last post. I still want these Games to be over without a 'false flag' incident. I fear something awful from the New World Order and I really hope in two weeks time that you can all say that 'Bryboy' was paranoid!

Why Don't They Upgrade?
After seeing another day of rows and rows of empty 'posh' seats in almost every Olympic venue one has to wonder at the lack of empathy that the Olympic Games Committee has with the British public. When we see the committed public filling up the 'cheap' seats surely it is not beyond the imagination of someone to say 'move them down to the front'.
It is this lack of imagination which is destroying the credibility of LOCOG. Profit has been their only mantra and profit turned into greed. When I see all the cheap seats filled to capacity and then the rows of empty 'dear' seats I wonder where it all went wrong? There are people who were refused tickets for the events that they applied for and are now witnessing vast areas of empty seats for those very events!?
These Olympic Games will be a success because the level of competition is the ultimate on this planet (unless you are a Spanish footballer of course...sorry I just couldn't resist a cheap shot). We will all get caught up in the hysteria and so we should because all our competitors have dedicated a period of their lives to this competition and they deserve our support.
What a shame that the Political Class has, once again, fouled up their end of the bargain. 'Lions led by Donkeys' comes to mind yet again! I say again ...when they have the opportunity then upgrade the faithful. I don't just mean upgrade, I mean if Andy Murray is playing at Wimbledon and there are seats in the Royal Box then fill it! Come on if people are that keen then reward them!

On the Verge of the Greatest Sports Show on Earth!
The Olympics is almost upon us. It has cost the earth and has been mishandled from the very start. Despite that I cannot wait for our Olympians to bring our country out of the doldrums and prove to the politicians that the British spirit is still alive and well. They can take their globalisation and their modernisation and shove it up their proverbial.
The British people will rise above their political leaders and stick two fingers up to them. I still believe that Londoners will suffer from these Games but I must support the athletes. Most have trained all of their lives for one crack at glory. From now on I don't care about ticket sales, accommodation prices, food and drink scandals and foreign criminals. Now it all about the athletes and their aspirations.
However, here we go again. The organisers cannot even get a controversial flag correct. I ask you how can someone get a flag wrong? Our lack of attention to detail will come to haunt us. In particular how can anyone confuse the flags of North and South Korea? It beggars' belief!
I wish everyone well but I doubt the ability of some organisers to come through unscathed. So far they have done well but now we are down to the nitty gritty. The slightest failure will be highlighted and crowd attendance will be top of the agenda. And I have not even mentioned security!

Why ARE People concerned about the Olympics?
![]() |
| I stole this from Captain Ranty's blog! |
Now other agencies are becoming concerned. The Chairwoman of the Public Accounts Committee, Margaret Hodge, has weighed into the argument. Here is what she has to say about the lack of transparency.
Then an unsold ticket scandal is emerging. Much of it concerns football but unsold tickets are apparently being returned from foreign Olympic agencies. The scale of it has not been made public but estimates are discussed here and these are not inconsiderable numbers.
Then comes a suggestion that the Games might be cancelled on security grounds and estimates about what it might cost. These doubts are escalating and may just be scare stories but it does not bode well. I hope the Games go well. I hope that they run like clockwork and that we win lots of gold medals. I hope that the legacy from the Games enhances sport in this country. The problem is that I am aware of the type of person in charge of it all.
I do not predict a disaster but I do predict chaos and suddenly we will all face a huge bill once it is all over!

Can the Troops and Police keep their Jobs Now?
![]() |
| Philip Hammond Secretary State for Defence |
Now it is becoming evident that security for the athletes was being compromised because G4S employees were not reporting for work in huge numbers. The police were having to fill the gap.
We are 11 days from the Olympics and these incompetent politicians are squabbling over security. As usual the very people who will steer the politicians through their self imposed ignorance are the police and the servicemen. These are the guys who will save the reputation of the country. Then. of course. it is likely that they will be sacked and some of them will be seen sleeping under the stars a year from now.
It is high time that the forces had a Trade Union. I hate trade unions but the British Legion is not doing the job. The soldiers and the police, who will clearly save the London Olympics from a political disaster, will never receive their reward. Many will be sacked and forgotten.
I acknowledge that I preach heresy but the time is now. When tube drivers and bus drivers and every man and his dog are blackmailing the government then surely those that are essential to the mission should also be rewarded.
This Coalition Government is destroying the police and the forces. They are cutting front line national security at every opportunity. They have destroyed the military pension scheme because they dismiss personnel long before they qualify for a pension. They consistently devalue the performance of the lower ranks; the guys who do the work that matters.
It is time for the lowly paid to revolt. This time they have got their paymasters by the goolies. They are the ONLY people who can make these games successful and yet they are not only the lowest paid but the least appreciated. They are only squaddies, Lance Corporals and soldiers, but they are the men who will ensure these Olympics survive.
The millionaire Philip Hammond does not believe that these men deserve a bonus. He is a front line moderniser and as such someone we should not listen to (and I am being VERY kind!). His attitude is that they knew when they signed up what they were in for. Let me tell you Mr Hammond nobody knows what they are in for when they take the Queen's Shilling. They are looking for adventure but most encounter so much more. They deserve more than bonuses but at the very least they deserve to retain their jobs!

Are the British Public Rejecting the Olympics?
I am getting the impression that there is an air of desperation emanating for LOCOG. The highly charged atmosphere of optimism which pervaded every launch of Olympic tickets seems to be evaporating. They are now admitting that the football stadiums will not be full.
I can understand that because there is rarely interest in foreign countries playing each other on neutral territory but there has also been a parade of paralympic stars talking up disabled sport during the last fortnight and asking people to support them.
Tonight Lord Coe surfaced talking up their performance so far but hinting that certain sections of certain venues may have to be closed down. He fell back on the old chestnut that some venues were still being constructed but I could not help but feel that the mood was changing.
I am beginning to wonder if the British public are a little more shrewd that the politicians took them for. I may be wrong of course and I often am but...sky high accommodation prices, rip off food and drink charges and abysmal travelling facilities are not an attractive proposition. People are not stupid and London is not regarded as a safe venue in the modern era of mass immigration and an incompetent UK Border Agency.
Top that off with the army of criminals from Eastern Europe waiting to pounce on our pockets and purses, the major doubts about security epitomised by G4S and watching Alastair Brownlee stuff the triathlon world on TV becomes a much better bet!
I recently read that thousands have followed the Tour de France free of charge but if you want to watch the same cyclists in the Olympic Road Race it will cost you £240! How can they close off such a large section of public highway beats me but they can't let anyone have Olympic fun for free!
There are still tickets available for the Opening Ceremony but they will cost you £2000! I shall be very interested in any empty seats when it comes to the flagship events. There have been stories that foreign countries have been returning tickets by the cartload but we will not see the full extent until the games begin.

Is the Government preparing for War over London?
Last Thursday I posted a piece that I entitled 'The Paramilitary Olympics'. To some extent it was tongue in cheek but since then events have taken rather a nasty turn. More and more soldiers and police are being called up to protect the Olympics. There is apparently an aircraft carrier on the Thames and we all know about the Rapier missiles on the tower blocks.
What are they scared of? There is almost a state of panic amidst our emergency services which manifested itself when passengers in a bus were recently treated like terrorists all because a replica cigarette malfunctioned.
In the past 15 years mass immigration has turned Britain from being a safe haven to being a nation constantly under the threat of terrorism. During this time the Home Office has constantly failed to cope with the threat and Home Secretary after Home Secretary have proven to be incompetent. Now we are on the verge of the modern Olympic Games and all the portents suggest that the authorities fear an atrocity. They seem to be preparing for an aerial threat and what concerns me is that so many others are suggesting that something unpalatable is about to happen. Why are they so sure?
Recently this caught my eye and it is scary. If they genuinely think that London is under threat then surely these Games should be cancelled. Nothing is worth this huge security blanket. How can people enjoy a sporting event when the government are preparing for Armageddon? I will be quite relieved when it is all over and all we have to do is worry about the hidden cost of it all.
Finally if Theresa May is correct then surely Nick Buckles and the board of G4S should face a court of law for lying to the government. I cannot contemplate a disaster but I don't trust our politicians. In the meantime I will head for Scotland to visit my granddaughter with my fingers tightly crossed.

The Olympics (continued)
It has now been revealed that our useless Home Secretary, Theresa May, was informed of problems at the G4S 'security' company 10 months ago! Typically she and her Home Office officials decided to do what they always do...NOTHING! They should all be sacked! They should not even be given the option of resignation. What they have done is inexcusable because it has put the London Olympics in jeopardy.
How David Cameron can tolerate this ineptitude from within his own Cabinet defeats me. The Home Secretary can only be tolerated because politics and power supersides everything else. It would be inconceivable for him to get rid of his Home Secretary two weeks before the Olympics because the timing would be disastrous. After all they are all on holiday!
What I hate about all of this is that I am a sports nut. I love the Olympics and I see some of our athletes on the verge of huge achievement. As usual however, they are being let down by our inept politicians who have allowed cronies of Lord Coe to hijack our games. Their performance can only be matched by our sprint relay teams both junior and senior who seem incapable of passing a baton! It seems that they can all run but cannot think rationally!
And now even worse news...the rotten weather may force the beach volleyball girls to cover up! What else could possibly happen to ruin the Games. I just don't want to think about that.

The Olympic Torch
The London Olympic Committee has completely rearranged the tradition of these games. There was one torch passed in a relay by athletes who gave the impression that they had a right to carry a flame which symbolised athletic achievement.
Today the flame is being detoured around Britain in an attempt to get the nation involved in what has been largely a London only Olympics. There have been people struggling to jog 300 yards accompanied by a posse of police and the whole process only serves to make the nation look ridiculous.
Now we discover that hundreds of these torches have been produced and some of the nominated carriers have followed the example of LOCOG and profited from their involvement in The London Games. They may be lower down the food chain but the intent is the same.
This morning the flame went out when it was attached to a wheelchair. Further comment would be inadvisable.

Olympic Tickets
When someone like the father of Sir Chris Hoy is forced to complain about our leading cyclist's limited opportunity's to purchase tickets to allow his family to watch the cycling then you know that we have a problem. I have complained from the onset that the complex and unfair system was designed so that someone somewhere could cream off the best tickets.
Now it is becoming increasingly clear that these games will be tainted because many of the people who have supported, trained and encouraged our athletes will be unable to attent the events whilst others who are rich and socially connected will have access to events that they know nothing about. It is likely to have an effect on performance. Any sportsman knows that having the right people around you is a spur to greater achievement.
When greed and avarice is allowed to dictate a national event so that the people themselves cannot get involved in a fair and sporting manner then someone is to blame. Clearly the Political Class have manipulated these ticket sales to their own advantage and they will not be forgiven.

Olympic Tickets (continued)!

This just won't go away. It is threatening to be a national scandal of unprecedented proportions. It could in fact ruin the Olympics because even the most mild mannered of our compliant public are now suspecting that they have been ripped off! Just last night I heard of a couple who had applied for £2000 of tickets and not received one...not even for the ignored football.
Then I am handed a cutting from the Sunday Mirror claiming that bankers Goldman Sachs had splashed out around £4 million for tickets for their staff and clients. Apparently 'Prestige Tickets' the company which specialises in corporate hospitality has unlimited supplies of 'blue riband' tickets which they will bestow upon their rich clients if they can afford them.
They are still claiming that 75% of the tickets are going to the public but how can that be when one firm is paying around £4 million and it has already been reported that Thomas Cook had also splashed out millions for the top tickets. In theory the public may get 75% of the tickets but what kind of ticket? The tickets that we all want, the tickets that friends, family and supporters also want have been earmarked for those who can afford them.
LOCOG have tainted these games like never before. They are switching the public off by their sleazy exploits. A private company should never have been give this amount of power. Too much public money is unaccounted for. The 2012 Olympics are turning into a prime example of how to take the public for a ride. No wonder the unions are threatening action!

Olympic Tickets
Ever since LOCOG began their jiggery pokery with Olympic Tickets hiding behind a cloak of secrecy I have been very suspicious about their integrity. It has all been too complex and amidst the complexity comes the accusations that the best tickets have been held back for those that can (a) afford them and (b) merit them.
Of course, I write from a platform of ignorance as I do about so much, but at my age I have a well honed nose for scandal and criminology. What has surprised me is that the Political Class is keeping very quiet about the antics of this private company LOCOG and it seems that, as with Common Purpose, nobody wants to be the one to open the can of worms.
I understand however, that they are about to release another batch of tickets onto the open market. I wonder why? Have these tickets previously been allocated elsewhere and not sold? You see I know that the sports nuts will always support the Games but unless you get access to the fast lane available to the athletes, the officials, the politicians and the downright rich then London will be chaotic!
Amongst the genuine visitors will be thousands of criminals. Pickpockets will have a field day as will muggers. London is not a safe city and I for one have not forgotten the riots last year. Now if I think along those lines then so will many other people.
Today I discovered this radio conversation featuring Baroness Dee Doocey who just happens to be the Chair of the London Assembly's, economy, culture and sport committee. Now if LOCOG will not respond to her enquiries then what chance the rest of us? My nose tells me that something is not right and by the time we discover what it is the killing will have been made.

Olympic Tickets on sale!
Today the Daily Mail revealed that 4000 unsold Olympic tickets are going on sale but as ever there is a catch. They have been given to people described as 'American fat cats' who run hospitality packages so that the rich can get to the best events and the agency involved can make a killing. The mark up on these tickets would apparently make the eyes of our own ticket touts water. A further 3000 tickets have been allocated to a sister company for sale in Australia.
Ever since the Olympic tickets went on sale the system has been convuluted and secretive. Every ploy has been used to mask what is actually happening. Nobody can access the truth because amazingly, LOCOG, who control the allocation of tickets, is a private company. So much public money involved and utterly no accountability.
This scandal began by being shambolic but as each day passes it is becoming sinister. As usual the politicians have taken every advantage to line their pockets. I suspect that the truth will eventually emerge but by then the thieves will be back undercover. We are being taken for a ride and I'm clearly not the only person who thinks so.

The London Olympics (again)
Once again, the underhand activities of the London Organising Committee of the Games (LOCOG) are coming under the spotlight. Their efforts to ensure that the political elite benefit over the general public have caused outrage but every time someone scratches the surface another smell emerges.Today in the Mail on Sunday they have warned of a 'Despatches' programme on Channel Four (scheduled for tomorrow evening) which exposes a scandal where companies like Thomas Cook, have been allowed to purchase 300,000 tickets for £25 million (now you know why you only got the minor sports) and are now including access to the VIP lanes which will whisk their clients past the public struggling to cope with the extra volume of Olympic traffic.
I remember Lord Coe (Chairman of LOCOG) promising on television that the public would receive 75% of the tickets. I do not know how many tickets are available but when one commercial company creams off 300,000 of the best tickets surely it renders his promise untenable.
The Olympics is a great sporting occasion but in my opinion LOCOG have demeaned it by concentrating on profit above fair play. There was always been a taint connected to the ticket sales and connected to the eventual destiny of the accommodation built to house the athletes. I will watch 'Despatches' with interest but I suspect that I will not to be too surprised with the findings.

The London Olympics
If this Olympic Games costs any more money I reckon that every Londoner will be skint. The original costs have spiralled by about £7 billion pounds and I just wonder what kind of idiot got his sums so ludicrously incorrect. Now the news breaks that the PM has sanctioned extra money for the opening and closing ceremonies, a move which has even brought criticism from our queen of athletes Paula Radcliffe. These politicians squander so much public money that it is becoming almost provocative.
Everything about these Olympics has been mishandled from the start. The estimate, the stupid logo, the accommodation, the tickets and now it has been announced that security alone will cost 553 million pounds. That doesn't surprise me too much because our politicians will all come out of hiding and an awful lot of people want to get their hands on them! I'm surprised that they haven't had the main stand bullet proofed. Instead they have hired over 23000 security guards.
Not enough guys and gals not enough!

Olympic Games Tickets - now they are prizes!

I have been scathing about the allocation of tickets for the 2012 London Olympic Games because it was not as transparent as it should have been and wide open to abuse.
People complained bitterly about not getting the tickets that they wanted and then it transpired that the government had bid for some of the most prized events.
Now we have EDF Energy advertising Olympic tickets as prizes in a competition that they are running. I notice however that they are not advertising what events these tickets are for? Did they receive these tickets through the back door like the politicians did or are they actually valueless...you know nonentity events which create little interest?
The problem with a system that lacked transparency is that it creates suspicion. EDF are not the only large company using Olympic tickets as prizes so I wonder how many tickets disappeared before the public got a look in?

An Art Attack!
I am not an avid art connoseur but like most men in the street I know what I like and I most certainly know what I don't like. Some of the horror shows that pose as art are ridiculous and at every opportunity the 'arting' fraternity seem to prefer controversy to talent. So when I saw the snippet below penned today in the Daily Mail by their irrascible columnist Quentin Letts I sat up and took notice.
Could the London Olympics have found better artists for its posters than Britart splodgers Tracey Emin and Martin Creed? Sculptor Eleanor Cardozo spent months imploring the Games’s organisers to give her a chance. She received ‘over 100’ letters of rejection.
The Russians had better taste. Miss Cardozo, 45, has now been hired to create scores of works for their Olympics team, some of which will be displayed in London.
As this example of her work shows, Miss Cardozo is an unfashionable exponent of classical figurative line.
She never stood a chance with the trendy-art loonies down at the London Olympics!
Too diplomatic to slag off Emin and Co., she simply says: ‘It sometimes seems that in London all you have to do is produce something provocative or disgusting and you are famous.’

I immediately googled Ms Cardozo to see her interpretation of art and found her homepage. Mr Letts describes the London Olympics organising committee as 'trendy-art loonies' and I have to agree. The pieces crafted by Ms Cardozo are beautiful and how they could turn down this talent in favour of the grubby crap produced by people like Tracey Emin cannot be defended. Lunacy really is the only word!

Give this sculptor a gold medal

Don't say that I didn't tell you....!
Even from here in sunny Orlando a story on the Mail on line caught my eye purely because I warned of endemic corruption some weeks ago. The sale of Olympic tickets has been a scandal of epic proportions but now the sell off of the Olympic village accommodation has uncovered further dodgy deals. It cannot all be a coincidental that a donation has been paid to the Conservative party and that his father has particular influence in this sphere.
