Cameron and Hague!

Now I thought that the House of Commons had an often used tradition that if the principle people behind an ill advised proposal lost the vote then they should in all decency resign? While I was away enjoying the sun kissed beaches of the Isle of Harris David Cameron and William Hague lost the most important proposal to have gone through parliament since the days of 'Butcher' Blair!

Somehow the country mustered up sufficient MPs to reject intervention in Syria.  The proposal by the PM and the Foreign Secretary was clearly flawed and surely we should now inquire how they came to their conclusions?

The British people are sick of war! We have been constantly at war ever since Blair came into power and yet Cameron and Hague want more!  What is driving them on? Who is driving them on?

President Putin has challenged the UK and the USA to produce their evidence of chemical attacks on the Syrian people by the Assad regime to the UN. It will never happen! I would almost guarantee that there is NO evidence.  So why are these powerful politicians insisting, without any concrete evidence, (remember Blair's WMD farce) to take this nation into yet another war?

Parliament has rejected the motion by Cameron and Hague to take this country to war. SURELY, even in this day and age, that means resignation? Why have they not resigned? How can they remain in place when their catastrophic platform, not endorsed by the British public, has been rejected?

The public must now ask what is driving our leading politicians into a position that they cannot defend? They have paraded for months in the mainstream media proclaiming a lie as a certainty when as far as I can see there is no evidence and yet they recall Parliament to vote on an unsubstantiated issue.  They are becoming increasingly more desperate to unseat Assad but they know that the Syrian President has some serious weaponry and will probably bite back.

I am becoming increasingly impressed by the stance of Andrew Bridgen MP who is a true Conservative.  He opposes almost everything that Cameron supports. He seems to intuitively know that David Cameron has lost the plot and is following orders from someone other than the British public.

The British have rejected the lies so the French have stepped up to the plate.  That is how it should be in this invidious attempt to unseat yet another Middle Eastern leader. This is not our problem and we should cease allowing the British Army to be used as a mercenary force for any passing banker to call upon.

The Arab League

Well once again we are caught up in an uncertain military conflict and nobody seems to quite know who is in charge and what the ultimate aim will be? Once again we have charged in with guns blazing initially with the support of the Arab League but will we retain that support? They seem to be swithering and who can blame them?

Andrew Neil of the Daily Politics has just announced that yesterday he toured around London's diplomatic quarter and outside every single Arab Embassy there was a large demonstration. So it would appear that Arab leaders from most countries which form the Arab League are under pressure from popular movements for regime change. In some of these countries the protestors are being violently attacked by government troops imported from other countries. Well isn't that exactly what Gadaffi did?

So how can the Arab League support a 'No Fly Zone' over Libya when in most other arabic countries they are defeating popular revolutions by the same methods that were employed in Libya? Perhaps that is a little disingenuous because the potential for slaughter in Benghazi was much greater than elsewhere but the principle is the same.

I am concerned that, bearing in mind our present financial distress,we could have let ourselves in for a lengthy and expensive tour of duty over Western Libya. I am concerned that the supporters of the EU (ie the Conservative, Labour and Liberal parties) whilst stripping our military assets to the bare bone are ensuring that what is left is tied up in military conflicts far from these shores. The Afghan War, which has achieved very little, is slowly grinding to a stalemate so perhaps it is time to find something else?

Ever since the EU became a prominent political force our troops have been used in spurious actions. Firstly Iraq, then Afghanistan and now Libya...I may be accused of cynicism but I don't believe in coincidence. Our politicians cannot agree on the eventual outcome or aim of our presence above Tripoli. It was the same with Iraq and with Afghanistan.  I repeat Libya had nothing to do with us! It is an Arab problem cause by the Arabic culture. We should never interfere in something we cannot understand.

Why us?

I am watching the ITV news and they are openly trumpeting that BRITISH planes could be over Libya within hours. Why US? What has happened to a force from our beloved European Union? Why not planes from Portugal or Holland or Greece? It has just been announced that Germany has abstained from the vote on a no fly zone over Libya!

I cannot believe that! How can they abstain? They joined China and Russia in their abstention but whose side are they on? I thought that we in the EU were all in this together? I thought that we were all partners when it comes to military response?

Apparently we are all partners when it comes to POLICE response ... but when lives are at stake British lives are held as the cheapest currency. It is a nonsense to deploy the odd plane that we can find from our reduced capacity. The EU is blatantly sacrificing British lives to excuse their pathetic foreign policy...and who is is charge of the EU foreign policy... woops Baroness Cathy Ashton! No wonder that they are prepared once again to excuse the French and the Germans and sacrifice the British... Baroness Ashton like her mentor Gordon Brown has never been a friend of Britain.

So what can we draw from this? The European Union want to control us but don't want to support us. We are the only country who seem to have a military force capable of any presence. So only the British will risk lives! Now I don't want to preach the obvious but the only reason that we are in the European Union is that we pay vast sums of money which they dissipate and they get to kill our kids!

Our socialist politicians are very ready to discuss 'fairness'. They rabbit on about 'fairness' so let them come on here and discuss 'fairness' when only our boys get killed? Sorry but the only word that comes to hand is ... BASTARDS!   

Israel against everyone else!

Today on the radio I listened to a former Royal Navy officer describing how it was legitimate for navies all over the world to board ships in international waters as long as certain conventions are upheld. On the surface it would appear that the Israeli Commandos upheld those conventions until they had no option but to defend themselves.

The pictures showing their men being violently assaulted and in at least one case being thrown overboard tend to suggest that, although some of the people believed that this was a legitimate convoy delivering aid to Palestine, there were others who thought that they needed to respond with extreme violence to the entrance of the Israeli Commandos.

If this was a legitimate convoy why did they react like that? If they are peace campaigners, like we are led to believe, why did they attack the Israelis as they descended on their ropes. I accept that tensions run high particularly between these people but I suspect that a propaganda coup was underway.

Today I read a comment on one of the blogs which sums up the whole situation. If the Palestinians lay down their arms then there would be peace in the Middle East but if the Israelis lay down their arms they will be wiped out! That folks is the bottom line... if you know that your family is at risk then you will react accordingly. The BBC has once again compromised its neutrality but really what is new?

Israel - Don't mess with us!

This lone nation state created out of the mess of World War Two has now survived for nigh on sixty years purely by its ability to defend itself. It is surrounded on all sides by people who would wipe their population of the face of the earth at the first opportunity.

They have given ground time after time in the hope of living in peace. They live under constant bombardment from missiles launched upon their civilian population by Palestinian guerilla groups. Make no mistake the Israelis could, in next to no time, wipe them out but they would then face world condemnation from countries who need Arab oil.

I know nothing about Middle East politics but I do know right from wrong. I can see a country trying to defend its people from inevitable extermination and a country maintaining a vendetta out of spite. The message is however, mess with us and you had better mean it because we will defend ourselves with everything that we have.

I have no brief in the hatred which pervades both sides but I know one thing...if the Palestinians would accept the inevitable then a lot of lives would be saved. In the meantime don't mess with the Israelies because they have too much to lose!

The Gaza Strip

Now I may be criminally naive about the hatred that currently exists between Israel and Palestine. It is obviously at a level that I cannot ever understand but surely this is the chance for someone, somewhere to suggest to Israel who are obviously the senior partner in this showdown, to go back into Gaza.

This time they should transport doctors, builders and engineers. The new task force should quietly begin to rebuild an area so that the people have somewhere to go. When your family has nothing it is difficult to ignore shelter, food and medical supplies. The task force should ask nothing but demonstrate to the world that all they wish for is a peaceful outcome.

They have the resources, they have the means but do they have the will. This is purely a hopeful suggestion which could build bridges in more ways than one.

Israel v Palestine

Frankly I am a bit fed up with the coverage of this issue but there is little doubt that it has the potential to disrupt world peace and for the life of me I cannot reason why. Israel has now been in existence for about sixty years. During this time they have shown, quite superbly at times that they, will defend themselves fiercely.

They have time after time proven that they wish to live in peace even to the point that they have, under international agreement, handed back land to the Palestinians even when it meant moving their own people from their homes. The Israeli government is a democracy which wishes to live in peace. It is not being allowed to.

Day after day, week after week, a terrorist organisation called Hamas which claims to be representing the Palestinian people, have been firing missiles indiscriminately
into southern Israel. It is absolutely unacceptable that a democratic country should be attacked by terrorists and Israel has responded accordingly.

Of course that is what Hamas wants. They care not a jot for their own people as they have shown time and time again by siting missile launchers in highly populated civilian areas. They know that there are enough Israeli hating arab countries who are just waiting for any excuse to pour their bile onto the Jews.

I think Israel should be allowed to put a stop to Hamas once and for all and then if they had any sense they would help to rebuild Palestine so that they could they live in peace with people who in return would have a decent standard of living for once in their poor miserable lives. It is very difficult to continue to hate people who are feeding you and in addition are putting your country back together again.

One final thought. I thought that there was a special envoy to the Middle East called let me think ... ah yes ... Tony Blair. Has anyone heard a peep from him? No I thought not proving once again that substance is not his forte.
