What Constitutes a 'Scotsman'?

I see the SNP are getting very worked up about the forthcoming referendum on Scottish independence.  They have now decided that only people living in Scotland or 'abroad' can vote. For their purposes Scots people living in other parts of the UK are disenfranchised and don't count.

For the purposes of this referendum the SNP have granted 16 and 17 year olds a vote so does that now means that the 16 year old child of an immigrant living north of the border now gets precedence over someone like me who can prove his Scottish heritage back to Cameron of Lochiel?

The SNP are stitching up this referendum by 'selecting' who can or cannot vote.  If they win the only benefactors will be the English who will at long last get rid of all the Scottish politicians who affect the voting in Westmonster particularly when it has no consequence on them.

I really hope that the SNP win but frankly I still believe, despite the rigging of the vote, that there is still a sufficient number of intelligent Scots who will tell Salmond to go and boil his head!

 

The Sunday Joke ...William Hague!

William Hague is currently appearing on the Andrew Marr Show. Marr has a habit of wheeling out the nation's least favourite politicians with monotonous regularity. This morning he is quizzing William Hague on the European Union particularly now that David Cameron has, once again, vaguely promised a referendum on our membership of this undemocratic, unelected cabal of Socialist politicians who have sytematically wrecked the economies of most of its member states.

Given the facts I was astonished to hear Hague articulate that we should not hold a referendum until we can see the direction in which the EU is going!  Surely by now we all know the direction in which the EU is going. It is going downhill fast, so fast that most member states require huge bailouts just to keep the politicians in power.

How on earth can he and all the other disciples of the people behind the EU continue to pretend that it is not happening? The EU has been a disastrous failure costing hundreds of billions. Not even Hague can sweep that under the carpet. David Cameron is preparing for his divorce from Nick Clegg and so he is trying to conjure up some Tory principles.

Don't be fooled folks! He continues to bluff the public by talk of a referendum. There is absolutely no chance of Cameron holding an in/out referendum on the EU. His bosses, the people who pull his strings, won't allow it until every last brass farthing has been spent trying to prop it up. Once all the money is gone and most western governments cannot even afford pensions then up will pop a politician to suggest that the EU was not a good idea. We must get out before that happens.

The People's Pledge

I am in touch with an organisation entitled 'The People's Pledge'. They are campaigning for a referendum on the European Union by organising a series of mini elections in a variety of areas throughout the country. Their first foray was held in Thurrock yesterday. Now I have to admit that I doubted their ability to coax the public from their normal lethargy but to my astonishment and to their credit they got almost 31% of the electorate in Thurrock to record a vote!


This was a magnificent achievement because some MPs have been elected on a lesser turnout. They also record that the sitting MP (majority of 92) or her Labour opponent would not engage with them during their campaign. That hardly surprises me because when push come to shove the mainstream politicians hate any involvement with public opinion. 


Today they published the result of their first campaign and many more are to follow. The result showed that 14,590 voters (89.9%) want a referendum on our membership of the European Union. That is a huge kick in the teeth for out mainstream 'modernisers' but then I am not surprised. We all know that membership of this undemocratic, contrived political union is wrong. It interferes with our own democratic process and contravenes our national law. The British people are now well aware that something is wrong.


We have suffered enough believing the lies and propaganda of the mainstream parties. We will soon have local elections. Please everyone send them a message that they will not be able to ignore. If you do not have a vestige interest in maintaining our membership of the EU then vote against it. Let us get our country back!

Iceland and the EU!

Daniel Hannan MEP

I have been sent a clip of MEP Daniel Hannan addressing the European Union on the rise of Iceland after the demise of the country caused by their bankers. Mr Hannan is well known for his eloquent euro sceptic speeches and once again he tells it as it is.


It only goes to prove that all the rubbish that our 'modernising' politicians feed us that we could not exist outside of the European Union is false.


Contrast his speech with another report featured by 'Before its News' which reveals the activity by the Bank of Greece to pay their bond holders. It is quite clear that countries are much better off out of the EU. Surely it can be only a matter of time before the people insist upon it?

An independent Scotland?

My parents arrived in Derby in 1939 newly married and hopeful for a good future. They were both children from Motherwell, a steel city built on grime and coal. I remember it with affection because the people were honest working class and they welcomed a little 'English' boy into their bosom. 

My late son rediscovered his Scottish heritage 50 years later and decided that this was really his 'home' country. He delighted in wearing his grandfather's kilt and graduated from Edinburgh Napier University with his Law Degree wearing it. His friends are delightful and our banter about Scottish weather and southern softies continues in good natured friendship.

That is the relationship which I enjoy with Scotland. I was schooled and reared in England and I consider myself English because I never, ever actually lived in Scotland. Yes by birth I am Scots but I am what I feel and I feel English.

So after that laboured introduction how do I view Scottish independence? Alex Salmond and his SNP crew are challenging Westmonster and I for one have had enough. The problem is that Scotland is actually a single party country. The Tories don't exist culturally and the Labour Party has let so many people down. Unlike the English the Scots actually think about politics. They realise that the Scottish Labour politicians, led by Gordon Brown, have let them down.

Enter the SNP (Scottish Nationalist Party) and their threat to hold a referendum on independence. The Scottish people will be given an opportunity to decide their future (unlike the English) and they can vote for independence. I doubt very much if they will secede from the United Kingdom because, if they do then they will be worse off.

By the way ask the English (nobody ever does) what they want from the union with Scotland...you people north of the border would seriously not like the answer. Tell Alex Salmond to shut his stupid mouth because you may regret what he wants! Down here we are sick of Scottish politicians...Brown, Blair, Darling, John Reid, Kennedy, Martin and on it goes! England really would be well rid of you!

We want Scottish independence! Please go your own way. We can them renegotiate our membership of the EU. We have really had enough of  Scottish bigotry built up over years of historical distortion. It is about time that the Westmonster government asked the English people to vote for or against this union but if the English ever get a vote on anything then the world would change! The time will come.   

Can we dare to dream?

To those of us who passionately believe that the European Union is a ghastly rip off and our membership should be rescinded as soon as possible the last 24 hours have been encouraging. At long last some politicians are wakening up and challenging our PM about his beliefs and actions on the EU.

I have been posting for some months that David Cameron is not a Conservative and despite his oratory skills and pre-election promises he and his mate, Nick Clegg, have no intention of allowing the public a referendum on the EU no matter what changes Mercozy make to our position in Europe. 

He routinely stands up in Westmonster and pretends that he is eurosceptic to placate a large number of his elected party but when it comes to action nothing happens. Yesterday at PM's Question Time at long last Ed Miliband landed a blow. He was assisted however, by many Tory MPs who were called, one after another, by a manipulative Speaker to demand action on the changing situation in the EU.

Today the Daily Mail has followed up big time and columnist Stephen Glover joined the attack. Where have they all been? We all know that Ed Miliband is just a political opportunist and he has supported the anti-referendum lobby for all his political life but what about the Tory eurosceptics? Most of them have kept shtum ever since the Coalition was formed.

The EU is a mess. The euro should be doomed. The scandalous red tape that the EU imposes on us is ridiculous and the Human Rights Act  is notorious. Why should anyone want to retain membership of a flawed and undemocratic organisation?

In the end the only way out for David Cameron will be to consult the public. If he doesn't then the public should walk away from the polling booths because any future election will be futile. 

A New EU Treaty?

I am sure that I heard David Cameron reassure the public that if a new treaty was negotiated within the EU the British people would be granted a referendum. Of course he said that before the full extent of the Greek, Italian, Portuguese, Irish and Spanish debts became public.

I don't think that he ever envisaged a new treaty coming on the scene during the term of his premiership. I suspect that Nick Clegg, when he appeared on the Andrew Marr program, already knew what the Germans and French were up to when he began the excuses for not holding a referendum.

If this pair renege again on the promise of a referendum then we will all know what we already suspect...the politicians are scared witless of allowing the British public a vote on the EU! They recognise that the British inherently dislike being ruled by foreigners and that IS the bottom line. It was a traitorous decision and so unnecessary because Turkey have a trade agreement with the EU without being a member state.

Until we begin to protest in force I fear that this will always be the case. They won't budge until they feel threatened. 

Alternative Vote v First Past the Post

Captain Ranty has posted a YouTube video on his site and is suggesting that we circulate it to mock the AV referendum vote on 5th May. So here it is! I quite like the idea because the more I see of who is lining up with whom the less that I like any of it. It also now seems likely that the 'No' vote will win, so in essence it has all been a ludicrous waste ot time and money.

This of course is not untypical of our modern politicians so we could do worse than turn the pantomine into what we really want!

Votes for Prisoners!

This is John Hirst, a former axe murderer, who has led a proposal to ensure that prisoners are allowed to vote. He has been given air time by The Daily Politics Show despite being an arrogant, abusive pig. Today he refused to apologise to Priti Patel, a Conservative MP, for labelling her a 'Paki'.

He is actually doing everyone a favour because his objectional behaviour is highlighting the flaws with our membership of the European Union. He was followed onto the screen this lunchtime by someone every bit as arrogant and abusive as himself, Lord Prescott. I cannot think of anyone from the Political Class who epitomises the arrogant bully so well as John Prescott. In his time he has ditched more socialist principles than any other man alive and yet he still gets air time. He was positively gloating today that the prisoners would win the right to vote because the Strasbourg judges can overrule British Law. Our Justice Minister Ken Clarke also agrees with him.

So there you have it, three men all with the same agenda. All three positively delighted that the Human Rights Act has hammered one more nail into the coffin of British Society. All three of them in the same boat and all three reflecting personal characteristics which would horrify decent people.

I cannot think of a better reason for demanding a referendum on the EU and in today's debate our politicians should be concentrating on this issue and nothing else. David Cameron says he fells 'physically sick' about giving the prisoners the vote but he still won't do the decent thing. What is he scared of? What prevents him from broaching the key issue in modern politics?

UPDATE: The Commons has thrown it out! No votes for prisoners. Now the fun will start when the EU commissars try to exact their revenge!

Is this a real People's Revolt... and will it spread?

The news broadcasts reflect a chaotic situation in Egypt where the people have really rebelled against their government. Tens of thousands appear to have decided that enough is enough and they seem to have a point. The interesting point is that, unlike Tunisia, this is a people's revolt and not an Islamic rebellion. The people have taken to the streets because they are seriously brassed off.

They are equating their protests to the fall of the Berlin Wall and wow now the Arab population are seeking a freedom that they have never had. They want a stake in their own future...how decadent that the people want to replace a wickedly governing partty and now in Egypt the genie is out of the bottle.

Frankly it is the type of protest that we need here! We do not have a democratic protest but our people are deeply unhappy. I know because there is an undercurrent  of dissatisfaction which one can hear in every household and every pub in the land. We Brits have that jokey irony which masks our anger. We are actually very pissed off with our political parties. They are not reflecting our desires. This is a very dangerous situation because if The Political Class ignore the electorate as they are doing now then they will one day pay the consequences.

At the moment we winge and complain but as yet the event has not happened that will tip the people over the edge. It will come! One day we will have an atrocity that our government cannot ignore and the people will be so outraged that they will march on London and throw the serving PM into the Thames! David Cameron or Ed Miliband or Nick Clegg please don't ignore the public because frankly this public rebellion is closer than you believe.

Tunisia... how far will it spread?

The people always have ultimate control. The people will eventually always hold sway despite what the Political Class believe. The people in the UK do not want the European Union and none of the mainstream political parties can accept this. They are the only beneficiaries of this corrupt political alliance.

The people wait in the background. We inherently know what is right and what is wrong and yet, because we are British and comfortable and apathetic the Political Class and the Bonus Class think that we do not have teeth. So far they have not been pushed far enough but I suspect that moment is not too far off.

If the law abiding really get annoyed, if the pensioners are harnessed into a protest, if  the Country Alliance want to retake their country, if the BNP and UKIP get serious and get angry enough then it is quite possible that the situation in Tunisia would be eclipsed by the revolution in this country.

If the politicians and bankers push this country far enough then they may face consequences that they cannot believe. The frustration of the Paying Class is frankly on a knife edge.  It is getting beyond throwing coffee cups at the telly. When the revolution comes and David Cameron, Nick Clegg and Ed Miliband, it will come, then beware because it will be really awful.

When the public have had enough then terrible events will happen!  

Ireland votes 'No' - now what?

Well done the Irish people! The only country to have been granted a vote on the European Union and they do the right and proper thing. I am not surprised because the normal man in the street may sometimes be apathetic, they may sometimes resent the intrusion into their personal lives but family, friends and in particular children come before anything.

Everyone knows that the EU is completely undemocratic. Nobody can enslave whole regions of educated and opinionated people in this day and age. The European countries are not like African states. We have fought far too hard and far too long to lose our freedom to people who we do not know, we do not trust and who have no right to enter our lives.

Europe has only just lost the last great monolithic power, the Soviet Union and lo and behold here comes another. For centuries countries like France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Great Britain have existed in their own entirety. The characters and traits of their people differ vastly from each other and yet someone, somewhere thinks that they can be brought together in one vast, uniform, conglomerate.

So what now? Apparently the rules state that if one sovereign state votes against the constitution then all is lost! Fat chance of that I reckon. They have far too much staked on this project not to enslave the western European nations. These are really high stakes that the politicians are playing for. They are creating a European political class which, if you are a member, will elevate you into a group who will be above the law. That is why they all agree with this Union and that is also the reason that they will not debate it.

Listen to all the main political parties in this country and they are broadly in agreement. They all say that the European Union is good for you. No argument, no strife, no debate because the three major political parties who want your votes cannot between them find one single reason not to support a group of people who have not satisfied an audit for a decade or more. As my brother would say 'I don't believe it."

Any day now you will witness a myriad of reasons which will explain to you why the votes of the Irish people do not count. They were well meant but actually it was quite obvious that they did not really understand the implications of their actions. This is much too large a roller coaster to be highjacked by a few Paddies who thought that their votes would result in democracy!

Ireland and the EU!

Today the Irish had their referendum on the EU and at the time of posting we do not know the result. I find it curious that Ireland, who as a country has probably gained more from the EU than most. Their people have been granted a referendum but then apparently it is written into their constitution. How come the Irish can be so clever and we so stupid.

I hope and pray that sufficient Irish people will realise that this unprincipled and utterly reprehensible monolithic authority cannot be allowed to dominate the political spectrum as it is trying to do. Someone has to stop them and I find it amazing that only the Irish have a voice on the matter. This underlines how devious these European autocrats have become. They reiterate that they are in charge and we have to like it or lump it because we will NEVER get the chance to challenge them!

Please Ireland do the right thing!

Democracy and the European Union

Our beloved politicians whenever they want to justify themelves love to trumpet their allegiance to democracy. The problem is that as each year goes by we get further and further from what we British traditionally regard as democracy.

For example our present Prime Minister has never faced an election for the job. The vast majority of NoLab supporters actually voted for Tony Blair. He,at the time, forgot to mention that he had made a pact with Gordon so that when Cherie had amassed sufficient money he would disappear mid term and leave us all to the mercies of a man most had never throught of as PM.

The same goes for the European Union. We have never had a vote on it and won't get one now unless we collectively recover our senses and vote for people who will give us a vote on whether we want to be ruled by unelected foreigners or not. That won't happen because the main stream media have got us all fooled that we must either vote Labour or Conservative and if we want a little by-election protest they allow us to vote LibDem. The fact that there is barely the width of a cigarette paper between their policies matters not a jot as long as the electorate join in the charade.

Last week a veteran Tory MP, Peter Lilley, suggested that the MP's link their pay with the transferral of our powers to Europe. In other words every time we gave away more of our freedom they receive a little less money in their pay packets. It won't happen of course but when you think that the Germans reckon that 80% of their legislation comes from Europe then you realise the seriousness of the situation.

Just to mark your card, the closure of our Post Offices is a European directive, the Data Protection Act comes out of Brussels as do the Home Improvement Packs and the fortnightly bin collections. You know, things that disrupt our normal everyday lifestyles but nothing which will enhance our quality of life.

In 1939 everyone saw that the Nazis were threatening our existence and the country rose up collectively and repelled them. This European Union is a much worse threat to us and yet nobody seems to care. Who are they? Where have they come from? What do they stand for? Nobody can tell you and the politicians don't want you to know because you won't like it. By the time you twig however, it will be much too late for you to do anything.

Every now and then however, little things leak out that they don't want you to know about. The excesses of the Euro MPs are becoming almost legendary. Corruption is reported as being rife. The finances of this monolithic political corporation has never been satisfactorily audited. Nobody can verify their accounts! Can you imagine that happening anywhere else? I think that this one fact makes the European Union ungovernable and therefore unelectable. How can anyone vote for an organisation which cannot explain what they do with the money that they collect from us?

Why do our politicians put up with it? With the exception of a few gallant columnists the main stream media also accepts this as a fait accompli. Sorry folks we are all European now and there ain't anything you can do about it. Just pay your taxes or we will arrest you under some Act which ostensibly deals with terrorism but which we just pushed through parliament while you read the sports pages or worried about Ashley's baby in Emmerdale.

In my humble opinion we have got to change our electoral system. We must ignore the three main parties, although if what I hear is correct the NoLab people are skint and will not be able to fight an election (Yeah believe that if you want because the political elite will prop up NoLab to the last penny because they need they to perpetuate the charade!).

I beseech the British people to think of the European Union as they thought of Adolf Hitler but so much worse. This is a creeping trifid which will engulf us all unless it is dismantled. At the next election vote for any independent candidate or the Greens, the BNP, UKIP or whoever has the courage to stand because they are the last people to stick their heads above the parapet and challenge the political establishment.

If we do not challenge the political elite then as a country we will lose everything that we cherish. Our politicians are dismantling democracy as fast as they can and we must wake up and smell the coffee or even the stench of European corruption!

Man sues Gordon Brown!

A businessman called Stuart Wheeler has decided to sue Gordon Brown for breach of his electoral promise to hold a referendum on the European Constitution. I don't think that anyone thought that he could win but apparently Mr Justice Owen has ruled that he has a case and has granted a judicial review. The judge has ruled that,"The obligation to hold the promised referendum cannot be avoided simply by the fact that it now bears a different name".

The judicial review will take place on 9 and 10 June and if the courts rule against the PM and the Foreign Secretary then they would have to place a bill before parliament which provides for a referendum. Well I never! Poor old Gordon is losing out all along the line which just goes to prove that cheats never prosper.

We Want a Referendum!

I was chatting to a friend of mine the other day and I mentioned how dischuffed I was about the current state of British politics. We have had sleaze after sleaze recently so I thought that he might be slightly interested. Now my friend is a really great guy. He would or could be patronizingly called the 'salt of the earth' because he is the epitome of that breed. He is a real man's man, now 70 years if age, and as honest as the day is born. His family means everything to him and yet he does not feel that politics is a subject which concerns him.

The average Englishman still abides by the principle that 'we don't talk about politics and religion'. The average man in the street feels uncomfortable if the issue of politics or religion is brought up in the general 'pub' conversation. Oh! Oh! The nutter is voicing his extreme views and so we have been conditioned that politics in the pub is a 'No-No'. In France and Germany politics is openly discussed and in the USA they are avid political fanatics as recently witnessed by the first 'Black Man' versus the first 'Lady' political confrontation for the Democratic nomination across the pond.

So why don't we care about our country? Why are we shy to express our political allegiances? Another friend of mine who I believe reads this blog every now and then told me that he was voting BNP. Now that took real courage in the company that we keep but because everyone respects and likes him nobody challenged his views. Why would a seventy year old wrap himself in a Union Jack and join the skinheads unless he actually was seriously concerned about the state of the country.

I have never ever marched anywhere for anyone. I am therefore part of the problem. I will not put myself out for the sake of my grandchildren. On 27 February people are marching for the sake of their families because they are going to London to lobby their MPs demanding 'We Want a Referendum' on this issue of Europe. This political union is purely a gravy train for failed politicians (Mandelsson, Kinnock etc etc.) It has done nothing for the British as a nation but it has given poorer nations like Eire, Portugal and Greece a much higher standard of living.

We are not here to prop up minority nations. We have always been able to stand alone on our talent and innovation. We do not need Europe; they need us and yet they do not like us. We are now the only country in the European Union who uses the Euro as currency. Why? They need our money that's why!

On 27 February I will be going to London to demand a referendum from my MP! They promised us a vote on this issue and Gordon Browns' lies about the latest treaty being different form the original one rejected by the French and the Dutch does not stand up to scrutiny.

Come on folks this could be your last chance to save the nation we all knew. Why don't you care? You have already seen the effect of this creeping towards a neutered England. All the other nations have a Parliament but the English have nothing to protect them. Our humour saw us through two World Wars but this is not a joke. For heaven's sake stand up for your country!!!
