The Liberal Democrats!

I have barely watched the LibDem conference because frankly I think that they are irrelevant.  They got the reputation of being the 'sandal wearing' party until they got into government.  Since however, they squeezed themselves into government they have been cruelly exposed.

Far, far too many of them have been caught out by sleazy exposures which give me personally a really uncomfortable feeling.
Now don't get me wrong because I am well aware that so many people who stand for election have 'dark' sides. Politicians from all parties have been uncovered as being greedy and inept but somehow the LibDems top them all.

No sooner had Nick climbed into bed with 'Dave' than David Laws was outed as being a closet gay and forced to resign.  Good old Charlie Kennedy had a problem with alcohol. Lord Rennard apparently enjoys groping ladies although that is still being 'debated'. Paddy Ashdown was caught cheating on his wife.

Then we have Chris Huhne who nearly gained the leadership of the party when he was a happily married man (well he campaigned that he was).  In previous years they covered up the sleaze of Cyril Smith which appears to have led onto Mike Hancock who is currently being investigated by Portsmouth Council about his liking for young girls.

It goes on and on and yet today Nick Clegg who is a europhile par excellence and cares not a jot for this country lied in his previous election manifesto when he campaigned for students and then reneged on his promises.  There is more so much more and yet the BBC gives them a prominence that is nonsensical.  In the meantime UKIP are having a conference which will probably not be covered.

In a recent poll it was recorded that UKIP are on target to win the European elections next year with a vote of 30%. The LibDems will not get anywhere near 9% (I am being generous). The BBC however refuses to acknowledge that UKIP has advanced onto the major political scene! After listening to the posturing of Nick Clegg today I just laugh!

Student Riots!

Am I alone in believing that the modern day student is being manipulated by the political left wing? They along with union activists are the one group that can regularly be persuaded to march on the streets. The other grouping are Muslim activists but that is another question.

The National Union of Students has always been an arm of left wing politics which is probably natural as young people like to be revolutionary before they mature. Even so the modern NUS appears to be in the hands of political activists who are not averse to a spot of violence.

The destruction of a police vehicle highlighted yesterday's student protest one day after a student was charged with pelting the police with a fire extinguisher. Now I realise that not all modern students are brainless morons but unfortunately when a nation gives access to higher education to huge numbers of youngsters on the grounds of dodgy grades then it is likely that some will not cut the mustard.

I believe that the vast majority of students don't really appreciate the facts behind their marches. They have been fed socialist propaganda which manifests itself in small towns like mine when the local university buffoons marched onto the HQ of the local Tory MP. Nowhere else just that one target.

Don't get me wrong today's student has a lot to get angry about. They should be marching about their education because they have been short changed and manipulated. The problem is they should be addressing their grievances to the Students Union and the Teacher's Union not allowing themselves to be conned that it is the fault of everyone else!

Admin errors!

On 25 August I posted an insignificant little post about the number of administrative errors that are making life a misery for so many people. They appear to be prevalent in the Civil Service and government departments because the people working in these departments have adopted a culture where frankly very little matters apart from the ability to smile sweetly and make excuses for incompetence.

Nobody is nasty anymore, nobody checks anything and nobody takes responsibility. If a person is seen to be hopeless they are just shifted (nicely) to a more menial task. The managers, supervisors and team leaders are therefore losing their ability to man-manage, organise and frankly set an example.

I well remember my manager in my latter days in the Civil Service arriving earlier than usual one morning. I was the only person fielding the phone calls but she received a request for someone in her section to help with incoming mail. As I was the only person in the section I got the job. I didn't bother explaining that at that very moment I had 'freed' the phones and she was about to be besieged with calls from interpreters all over the country with excuses for not attending their court appointments that day. When I got back forty minutes later she was almost having a seizure! Every phone was ringing off the hook and she had learned a very valuable lesson.

The point of this post is that at this very moment all over the country 'A' level students are waiting for their university grants to arrive. Most of them have been ludicrously underpaid and are panicking because an authority called Student Finance England cannot cope.

I will bet that this body is stuffed full of people with degrees who have not got a clue how to get themselves out of the mess that they have created. Every day they will arrive at work neatly groomed, cleavage showing and smiling sweetly while they ruin the lives of their young clients and nobody will give a damn!
