What do we do with Moussa Koussa?

Moussa Koussa, the Libyan Foreign Minister for very many years, has defected to the UK. His defection is a huge coup for the diplomatic services because without a doubt he will have in depth knowledge of, as they say in parliamentary circles, where the bodies are buried. He will know who was behind the Lockerbie bombing and Jim Swire the veteran campaigner on behalf of his daughter who was on the plane, has already requested access to him. He clearly does not believe the official version of who was to blame for the Lockerbie bombing.

That apart what do we do with him then? He has been one of Gaddafi's right hand men for many years and as such is guilty of association for so much wrong-doing. He is a bad man! Apparently no diplomatic immunity has been afforded to Mr Koussa but if I was him I would say nothing until offered diplomatic protection. He has placed himself in a really difficult position because his life is now in our hands. He must have a plan; we must have a plan but I suspect that someone, somewhere, who has nothing to do with Libya, will not welcome the defection of this man.

If Megrahi did not bring the plane down on Lockerbie then who did? Moussa Koussa will know the answer which is why that I doubt very much if Mr Swire will get anywhere near him!

Lying to Parliament...!

To those of us who are political neutrals and attempt to comment on political matters without prejudice it has been clear for some time that the NoLab administration under both Tony Blair and in particular under Gordon Brown were a pretty shoddy shower. It has now come into the open that they 'facilitated' the release of Abdelbaset al-Megrahi by negotiating with Libya behind everyone's back and then attempting to cover it up in the House of Commons.

Today, as befits a PM, I think that David Cameron was restrained in his comments although his demeanour reflected anger. As usual Ed Miliband refused to accept the obvious because he was of course involved in this charade. This is the problem with the Labour leadership. Every revelation that trickles out now about their conduct and behaviour during their years in government condemns all of them. They were all in the Cabinet when this travesty of justice was enacted so they must all accept the shame which will surely follow.

I still believe however, that protocol apart, Gordon Brown has some explaining to do. I suspect that someone even now is trawling through Hansard to discover his exact words on this matter. Most of us remember that he constantly washed his hands of any responsibility for the release while we now know that he was doing everything possible to make it happen.

He is still an MP so when the facts emerge someone should insist that he makes a statement. If he had any honour he would resign but of course this is Gordon Brown we are talking about!

Shock! Horror! New Labour lied to the Public...over and over again!

OK it is no surprise that Wikileaks has outed Gordon Brown and his shabby bunch who secretly negotiated to get the Lockerbie bomber safely out of jail and back home to Libya. I am sure that we all remember the countless times that Brown publically declared that it was solely a Scottish decision and nothing to do with the government,

Now it would appear that, like his predecessor Tony Blair, he deliberately lied to Parliament. If this is true is there not a punishment on the statute books which would fit the crime?  After all Gordon Brown is still an MP, well yes I know; but he is still being paid to be an MP so where is the justice? If our Political Class is to retain any scrap of decency/dignity/responsibility then Gordon Brown should be dragged in front of a Court of Justice. At the very least he should be thrown out of Westmonster in disgrace.

If Gordon Brown is not punished for his calumny then any credibility left in politics will be shredded. He was an extremely dishonourable Prime Minister. If it is proven that he misled Parliament and lied to the public repeatedly then I cannot think of a punishment dire enough. He disgraced the role of PM!

Libya, BP, Tony Blair, Scotland and a rather nasty smell!

The other story which has emerged recently is probably a story which stinks even more than the Iraq War. Predictably Tony Blair is linked to all aspects of the story and predictably he remains free of reprisal.

The American Senate want to talk to Jack Straw, BP and Kenny McCaskill, the latter being the guy who basked in the glory of releasing the Lockerbie bomber. Frankly I have never believed the idea that this Libyan brought down the plane. I still think that he was set up by world politics as a fall guy so that he would be released and then rewarded for his inconvenience.

The destruction of this aircraft above Lockerbie was I suspect much more complex than we were led to believe. The conspiracy theories are rife and we will never know why that aircraft was brought down. I feel so sorry for the relatives of the victims. I suspect that both the UK and the US governments know far more than they are prepared to release.

In the meantime Tony Blair sucks in millions....
