Abstaining from Elections

So, it would appear that once again the Great British public have voted to perpetuate the political scandal that we accept as democracy in this country. Once again the sheeple have paraded as required and voted for the main parties who are now able to continue dipping into the public purse at will.

At least on the surface that is the picture but if you delve deeper than the headlines that the BBC splurged this morning...'Victory for Labour'... then a different picture emerges. Early indications are that over two thirds of the public ignored the local elections. Personally I don't believe that these results reflect the mood of the country.

Most people are now so disillusioned with the conduct of the politicians on every side that they cannot see the point of voting. Unfortunately that gives the politicians, yet again, a mandate to serve you with more of the same. It would not matter if only three people voted in a city of two million because when two of them vote for the same party victory is assured. There is no minimum requirement, no quorum rule and no regulation which demands that an election is declared null en void because the people are fed up.

The lesson has to be learned that if you want real change to happen in this country; if you want politicians who will listen to the people then you must vote AGAINST the mainstream parties. If you want to stop the senseless spending of political parties who are unable to balance the books because of their criminally stupid political commitments then you will have to get off your backsides and vote them out!

Opting out, spoiling ballot papers and sticking your head in the sand will not get rid of them because you can almost guarantee that the only people left who continue to vote for the system actually work within it! Anyone who votes for a party that produced, Blair, Mandelson, Prescott, Gordon Brown, the Milibands, Ed Balls, Jacqui Smith, etc, etc can only have one motive and that has to be financial. Decency and democracy have long since disappeared from this poltical class.  We see it daily at the succession of public inquiries which uncover their rottenness. You will have to bite the bullet and vote them out!

Offered to send in 2 bits so here's the first - your post on the elections seems a suitable place

The Silent Majority Pt1
Its one of the best letters I have read for a long time, it puts everything into perspective.
It is time BOTH parties stood up and listened.

Subject: The silent majority

To David Cameron (Prime Minister) & Ed Milliband (Leader of the Opposition)

You BOTH Worry me ! ( In fact both of your Political parties worry the hell out of me !!!)

Over the last three years, I find myself becoming more and more fearful of the pair of you, and between you, you are turning this country into a place that I no longer feel at home in, or feel a part of! I watch you in parliament, and no, not just the two of you, but every politician that I see, stand up in parliament sneering at each other, and acting like children !!! (..and if you were my children, I would be ashamed of you all ... What an example to set!)

Although you would like us all to believe that you are putting the needs of this country at the forefront, NEITHER of you are doing that, you seem more interested in "one-up-manship ", in scoring off each other, & denigrating each other, to the detriment of this country & its people !!!
It seems to be all about YOU as individuals, and not about what you can DO for this country !
It is fast becoming a place that I do not recognize, as the place I always thought, was the best place in the world to be !!!

But no longer !!!

You are not listening to the people of this country !!!
And here in Great Britain, your counterparts are afflicted with the same disease - is it endemic in all politicians ?

I am watching the deterioration of living standards in this country, (and according to you, on a world stage we are doing better than most countries ... REALLY ???) ... And yet the gap is widening between the "haves" and the "have-nots" . I see our homeless on the streets, our hospitals under-funded, and understaffed, our health system is an absolute mess and a disgrace ... And yet I see multi-millions of pounds being sent off shore, in aid to other countries, before attending to this country's needs !

Silent Majority Pt2

I see the "selling off of water rights to foreign interests, WHY...?
Especially when you go to great lengths to tell us that water is a finite resource, & supposedly, we must ALL be careful with how we use it, so that we ensure we have it for the future ?

A Carbon Tax, ( which you KNOW is just another tax ) which will make NO appreciable difference, to carbon emissions, AT ALL!

A tax, which in spite of all your arguments FOR it, you are doing alone, when other major countries will NOT & DO NOT embrace it, or believe in it !

All that it will do for this country is put working families and small businesses behind the eight ball, .....what planet are you on, if you
think that your few hundred pounds a year, will make even a scrap of difference to the effect of the carbon tax on people ? Anyone can see the holes in that argument !!! Do you really think we are all that dumb ???

Let's talk about Multiculturalism ..... People have come here from other countries, for a better life, for more years than I have been alive.

Pre & Post war immigrants came for a better life, and settled in and became wonderful contributors to this country, ... all have contributed to the rich diversity of this country, and some descendants have even fought FOR this country, and they have become U.K. Citizens and were glad to be .. and they had NO handouts from our Government either, ... they worked hard for everything!

I have never before had a problem with all, or any, race of immigrants coming here ...

......However , I DO NOW !!!

Please tell me why we have areas in towns and on large estates all over the country , where police do NOT, & will NOT go, for fear of their life ?

Please tell me why we can no longer have religion in schools, for fear of "OFFENDING" someone ? (The latest little gem is that they are not having, or being funded, for "chaplains " any more , but "Counsellors "? )
Please tell me why religious Christmas observances are no longer allowed in some schools for fear of OFFENDING someone ?

Please tell me HOW Christmas decorations in some stores might OFFEND someone ?
Please tell me why we have to have segregated days in some swimming centres, for fear of "OFFENDING" someone ?

Please tell me why we have some RADICAL clerics demanding Sharia Law in this country ... when if we were in THEIR country, this would NEVER be allowed ?
Please tell me why our laws need to be changed, so as not to OFFEND someone ?

Silent Majority Pt 3

Please tell me why we are fast becoming a MINORITY voice, in our own country, because of POLITICAL CORRECTNESS ?
Please tell me WHY Britains cannot legally wear a face covering bike helmet into a bank .. and yet it is ok to wear a Burqa which covers the whole face ?
And please tell me WHY, when those people who want asylum here, can wreck our detention centres, and STILL be accepted ?

What does that say, about just who and what are this government's priorities ?

The British people that I speak to have genuine concerns about becoming a second class minority in our own country, and the reasons for it, are some of the above, ..... Are you so blind that you cannot see this ?

And no , I am NOT racist !!!.. ( if I did not like Catholics or Protestants would I be considered racist ?) Of course not !

Why is it, that if we object to what is happening in our country ... we are immediately labelled RACIST, in an attempt to shut us up ? We are fighting Radical Muslims, in Afghanistan & Iraq , are we not ?I hear you say, yes but the Muslims we have here are " Not like that " .. well how would we know ? ... do we hear ANY of them coming out & speaking AGAINST radicals ??
I haven't ...have you ???

Islam is not compatible with ANY of the values that we hold here in
Britain ! ..... Are not the experiences of France , and the Netherlands an example of that ? Why do you think it would be any different here ? We even have a British born "radical ", whose message is that Britain WILL become a Muslim country, under Sharia Law, & that we had "better get used to it ".

Will both of you grow some "Balls ", and start sticking up for this country and its people ???

We are the people who put you where you are, and PAY you to look after our interests ! ... And you are NOT doing that, by any stretch of the imagination !!!

I would appreciate an answer, from both of you, if only to convince me that once again, I am not talking to a brick wall !!!!!

In case it has escaped both of you ...I would like to remind you that, the U.K. Government ... is FOR THE PEOPLE, OF THE PEOPLE,
& BY THE PEOPLE ...

Never forget that......because you sure have up till now !!!
Let us get this out to all - and if you have people in the press or if you know Politicians - let them know we are dis-satisfied with their behaviour !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PLEASE SEND THIS GREAT LETTER TO AS MANY PEOPLE IN THE U.K. AS YOU CAN, AND IF YOU HAVE CONTACTS OVERSEAS DO THE SAME

I couldn't put it better myself. This letter has summed up the mindset of the electorate as we wake up after too many years of apathetic slumber. One only has to view the ethnic make up of the new Labour controlled Derby City Council to witness the impact that mass immigration has had on the nation. I do reiterate however that we will not win back our heritage by ignoring the ballot box. Only 12% of the population voted Labour on Thursday but look at how much power it bought them!

12% but power? Well bryboy 'twas always so in varying degrees and has, for perhaps 10 decades, engendered a political "musical chairs" of ideas. One of which of course is Proportional Representation and another is Single Transferable Vote. I was obliged to study, and understand, ALL the options 45 or so years ago At least STV managed to return Boris rather than slimy Ken, despite postal vote fraud.
The Australians, and others, make voting compulsory (in North Korea voting for just ONE candidate seems compulsory). I have a sneaking regard for compulsory voting but have a fear that rather too many of our citizens don't have the brain-power, and will be guided by their biased "red-top" so the likes of Murdoch will control the result even more.
So, personally, I would prefer STV because that at least allows one to choose in descending order of unsuitability. I could go on for hours but shall not.
Constitutional change - such as the EU and it's treaties; HoL reform; and such should be subject to compulsory voting and a 66% vote FOR , before anything changes. Democracy can only be real democracy in that circumstance 2:1. Call me old fashioned but I think that the HoL was far more representative, and a GOOD and legitimate "check and balance" when populated only by hereditary peers and Lords "legal and spiritual". Centuries of proven effectiveness destroyed by Blair in particular - a 2nd rate lawyer. Says it all.

Derby? Well I haven't looked. When a kid I sometimes was taken to Derby to the market.I lived 13 miles away. I also went to the DRI when I broke a kneecap. Then it was a "quiet" place and much less vibrant than Nottingham. Since then? Well in my early 20's I sometimes visited friends in Mickleover. I have passed through via the A38 a few times since and once visited the team constructing Egg for a potential contract. I declined. So I have seen Derby only via trains and major roads in the last 25 years or so and little at all for 50 years.
What I read though saddens me. The original County Town (it has been Matlock since the late 50s) of my native Derbyshire looks to have been colonised - just like Leicester and Bradford. So sad. It will only get worse if the major parties continue to refuse to listen to the people. Isn't that how revolutions start? History says so.

Blair "2nd rate lawyer" needs an explanation. NOT my words but interpretation of the actual meaning of the words of his wife, AND his mentor - Derry Irving. And Blair is now ready for return!!!!! Beggars belief.
Politicians disgust me. Blair practiced as a barrister for perhaps 5 years at most and apparently badly but is still called a lawyer. William Hague spent a couple of years with, I think, McKinsey but is hailed as a "management consultant". Mmmm. I am such, or was. What I can tell you is that, much like doctors, management consultants may well be trained but it takes 10 years before enough knowledge is acquired to actually become totally proficient.
Would you trust Graham Garden or Harry Hill to treat you? Both are trained doctors who rapidly left to comedy shortly after completing their compulsory training. Perhaps they should pay back the cost of their wasted training.

I once met the young "management consultants" from a big 5 consultancy during a contract with the then DHSS. They were visited once a week by a "manager" who was perhaps 5 years older. A colleague and I, on a totally different but related contract, realised that they were were ******* in the wind and had no idea what they were doing. We took pity and gave them the info they actually needed.
Despite our intervention THAT company, one of the big 5 remember, was actually banned from Government contracts - but only for while. WE in the meantime got more Government Contracts - and NO we did NOT set them up.
